Alex Kloszewski (MRICS) is the Managing Partner of Hotel Professionals and has worked in hospitality since 1973. He was previously Managing Director of InterContinental Hotels in Poland and the Czech Republic, and Partner and Head of Hospitality at Colliers International Poland.
He began his career in the United States with Marriott Hotels & Resorts, working his way up through the hotel — from the front desk and bell stand at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott to catering and banquet sales. In those years he met both J.W. Marriott Sr. and Bill Marriott Jr. on many occasions, including the grand opening of the Marriott Riverwalk in San Antonio. He left Marriott in 1985 with the company’s number-one excellence rating.
He went on to run hotels across the United States and the Caribbean — named Wyndham’s General Manager of the Year in 1988, and later General Director of Radisson and Wyndham hotels in Aruba, where he doubled operating profit in his first year at a 478-room resort. In 1991 he returned to Poland to open and run the Radisson in Szczecin — one of the first internationally branded hotels to open in Poland after 1989.
From 2002 to 2005, as General Manager, he led the pre-opening and opening of the five-star InterContinental Warsaw — a €120 million project delivered on time and under budget. In 2005 he founded and led the hotel division at Colliers International Poland, where the first annual reports on the Polish hotel market were produced — continued since 2014 under the Hotel Professionals brand.
Alex also founded and chaired the Warsaw Destination Alliance, a non-profit that spent a decade promoting Warsaw’s eleven five- and four-star hotels, put the city on BBC World and CNN International for the first time, and helped lift occupancy above 70% ahead of Poland’s EU accession. His tourism work was recognised with an award from the Ministry of Economy in 2004. Promoting destinations — San Antonio, Aruba, Warsaw, and most recently Szczyrk — remains what he is proudest of. At Hotel Professionals he leads the advisory practice, working with investors and owners across the full life of a hotel.
