Operational Reviews & Recommendations

An operational review shows what is driving the performance of a trading hotel and where change is needed. We shape the scope around the owner question; it can include conversations with key people, observing the operation, a mystery-guest visit, and analysis of processes, the USALI profit and loss account, the budget and the sales and marketing plans.

We finish with recommendations ordered by impact, urgency and ownership. We run a similar review before opening, to test the readiness of the team, the procedures and the operating plan.

Advisory method

An operational review that leads to action.

We shape the scope around the owner’s question and the hotel’s performance. The purpose is to show what needs attention, why it matters and where to begin.

01

Owner’s question

We define the problem, the purpose of the review and the areas most likely to affect performance.

02

Work in the hotel

We speak with key people, observe the operation and, where useful, conduct a mystery-guest visit.

03

Performance analysis

We connect our observations with the USALI profit and loss account, budget, sales and marketing plans and key processes.

04

Action priorities

We order recommendations by impact, urgency and responsibility, so the team knows where to begin.
